Part 2 - Successfully implementing a Technology Change in your Office: Gathering Input
by Samantha Mansfield Samantha Mansfield When implementing any piece of technology a strategy needs to be designed and executed. A few weeks ago I wrote about the importance of creating and communicating the vision for the change. 2) Get your staff?s Input: In most firms everyone has their own way of working and completing tasks despite predefined procedures. Some staff are more inquisitive and look for ways to improve their use of technology by applying product enhancements, or reconfiguring their hardware setup to maximize their efforts. Therefore, before making the assumptions that everyone does it the same way, get everyone to map out their current workflow. Encourage honesty, not what they think you want to see; this way you really know what steps are being performed. Perhaps have them submit anonymously if you are concerned they won?t truly share their process because they may not be following the procedures outlined in the staff manual. Upon looking at all the feedback you may discover more efficient methods and techniques that you can now implement firm wide; as well as, ideas for relevant lunch and learn topics in your office to create more engagement and increase everyone?s productivity.
