Unpacking PSTech

It?s impossible to absorb everything the AICPA Practitioners Symposium & Tech+ Conference throws at you in real time. There are so many people to meet, so many sessions to choose from, so much to see on the exhibit floor, that you need time to decompress and figure out what you learned. We?ve had a chance to kick around some of the conference?s main themes at CPA.com over the past few days, and here?s what resonated with us: One size doesn?t fit all: niche marketing, technology and streamlined processes allow firms to set themselves apart and offer tailored solutions for clients. Complexity is a challenge for firms, but also represents the greatest area of opportunity in terms of serving clients. Firms need to be keenly aware of where they sit in the client value chain. If your focus is only on compliance activity, you may find yourself automated out of a job over time. Tax season was better (slightly) but still an uphill battle for firms. Clear communication is vital in practice management. Get everyone on the same page ? and hold everyone accountable.
